Who Are These People?

Bob & Michelle – a little older, a little wiser.My husband, Bob, and I share a passion for design, craft and tradition. Collaborating as graphic designers for close to 30 years, we now create needlework projects that celebrate the things we hold close.

The name of our company, Great Bear Canada, came to us after Bob had a very special dream about a bear. We have two sons and I’ll bet you can figure out the symbolism of the logo from there!

Our ideas come from everyday experiences such as going to fall fairs with our two boys, dream-planning a garden in the middle of a Canadian winter, learning to wind a grandfather clock. Images of family life and love slowly fill our sketchbooks, then take shape as projects for needle, thread and cloth.

We hope that as you stitch, your own connections to people, places and times past grows stronger. Like you, we know that something for the hands can do great things for the heart. And that these pictures and pillows, these pieces of ourselves, add warmth and depth to the places we call home.
